This canal is on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, west of Montreal. It is the pre-Seaway canal connecting Lake Saint-Louis and Lake Saint-Francis and bypasses the Beauharnois Locks of the Seaway. It is proposed to reopen the canal to pleasure boating and as the centerpiece of a large development.
