Enlarged Champlain Canal
Site of Lock 1

In this view northward, Dyke Avenue crosses left to right in the foreground while the dirt road straight ahead is on the towpath. The canal would have passed under Dyke Ave with a bridge and the lock was in the grassy area to the left of the towpath. The brick building on the left was canal era. The building on the right was probably the lock house. Route 787 is now built on the canal alignment and both buildings are gone.
